Recent SNEC conferences have focused on wetland restoration, water quality and solar energy. This year, the spotlight will be on soil and sediment – intact or disturbed, contaminated or pristine, surficial or otherwise. Time slots are typically 15-30 minutes plus Q&A; additional time could be allocated for group presentations or a panel discussion.

The Soil and Water Conservation Society held its 74th Annual International Conference, titled Bridging the Divide: Uniting Rural and Urban Landscapes for Conservation. The conference ran from July 28 -31 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
During this conference, the Southern New England Chapter was presented with a Chapter Achievement Award in recognition of significant achievements through a single activity conducted during the year. We were recognized for our Erosion & Sediment Control Fall Field Day Workshops.

Treasurer of the chapter Ms. Christine Odiaga presented a poster on the Herring River Restoration Project (pictured below), which proposes to incrementally restore 1000+ acres of an estuary that has been severely degraded since the installation of a dike across the mouth of the tidal river in 1909.
